I was invited to speak, in October, at the NACO Summit because of my expertise in early-stage investing and my involvement with Wesley Clover and the Alacrity Foundation.
It can be difficult, without these forums & conferences, to constantly add value, provide guidance, and shape startups to make an impactful contribution to their success. However, sharing our industry knowledge and having meaningful conversations and providing personal opinions enables progressive thinking within the investment community. Yes, providing capital is impactful but the most important aspect, when investing, is connecting and creating strong relationships with the entire team that you’ve invested in. It’s the ability, as an investor, to iterate that the team is more important than the idea.
